I finally finished the mix of rid of you, I overdubbed a guitar part that sounds like a chainsaw with a motor made by Audi.  The more I listen to the song the more I realize how great of an achievement it is for me.  I couldn’t be happier about my drumming, guitar playing, choice [...]

14

14

Fourteen could be my magic number.  I found out I had cancer on the 14th of February, I’m going to have my 14th surgery tomorrow and I made a deal with myself a long time ago that I would make as many albums as surgeries.  In total I’ve had five surgeries in the past two [...]

Fall

Fall

I uploaded a gallery of Fall shots to my website.  I seemed to be drawn to the black and white images more than the color ones.

Film

Film

I’m making the conversion to shooting all my nature work with film from now on.  Aside from time lapse, night exposures and family stuff I don’t see the convenience in using digital.  The convenience doesn’t outweigh how aesthetically pleasing film is.  I doubt I’ll look back in 20 years and say I wish I shot [...]

Route 1 Pt.2

Route 1 Pt.2

This is another one from the trip down the coast.  I scanned this shot right after I left my apartment a year ago.  I felt an immense amount of relief driving away from that apartment, similar to the one I got after they unplugged my port after my last treatment.  After crossing the bridge I [...]

2009

2009

The year it all came together.  This makes 2010 the year that it takes off.
On tap for 2010:
Release a video (of time lapse footage)for a song off The Long Way Home.
Release the first Absent Stars album and a bunch of live shows.
edit-there’s a band in Chicago called Absentstar.  This sucks, their music sucks even more.  [...]

Route 1

Route 1

I took this shot about two years ago right before my hip replacement.  I was driving down to SB to visit Andrew, good times.  I took this shot on a $1 roll of expired film with an SLR that my brother gave me 3 years ago, when I started taking an interest in photography.  I’m [...]

These shots remind me of White Sands, I was thinking in that mode before I pressed the shutter.  The faint hints of red and blue in the sunset caste the snow in the same light as sand.  Laytonsville gives me the same feeling as White Sands, in the middle of nowhere with no one around.

I only got stuck twice driving around for these pictures.

Death Valley

Death Valley

I took this shot as I was leaving Death Valley.  This was definitely below sea level.

First Snow

First Snow

I think my camera is on its last legs, it turns off after I click the shutter.  The only way to take another shot is to take out the battery, not exactly ideal circumstances while wearing gloves and shooting while its snowing.  Hopefully its covered since I got it serviced by Canon in August.

70-200

70-200

I just sold my most expensive piece of gear, a Canon 70-200mm lens.  I haven’t really used it since I stopped shooting shows and I need to finance mixing my new record.  I was going through some shots picking out the cover to an EP that I’m releasing tonight and came across these shots…good god [...]

Berryville Pond

Berryville Pond

I used to ride my bike here when I was younger.  I’m beginning to see a parallel between my creativity in music and photography.  I usually have to hack away on guitar or drums for a while (15-60min) and something usually comes of it song wise.  Today I took a bunch of mediocre shots on [...]

Marlinton, WV

Marlinton, WV

I spent the weekend at my friends cabin in the mountains of WV.  Thanks for taking me Vince, it was the most relaxing weekend I have had in ages.  These are two shots from his backyard, I think I may have bumped the tripod at some point during the 10 minute exposure.  The red/orange one [...]

Corn Field

Corn Field

There’s a corn field across the street from my house.  I only made it out there a couple times before they harvested the crop.  Standing in the middle of a corn field doesn’t seem that appealing to me now that I don’t get stoned.  That or its just not that interesting to stand in the [...]
